RESPONSIBILITY

The BBVA Microfinance Foundation understands that all organizations, regardless of their legal nature, have responsibility of both an internal nature as well as with regard to their operating environment. As a foundation, the institution also has a special social commitment. Its social mission, detailed in the articles of association, explicitly sets forth the need to manage these responsibilities in a sustainable manner. In this regard, probity and reporting transparency are basic values in the Foundation's management.

For this reason, the BBVA Microfinance Foundation has a Code of Good Governance and Corporate Responsibility designed to go even further than conventional corporate governance guidelines and focusing more on the responsibility that especially affects an organization committed to a social purpose.

Moreover, a Code of Conduct has been compiled, targeting both staff at the Foundation and members of the network it promotes. This code is to ensure the most appropriate conduct for the growth and reinforcement of the Foundation and its Network.

The code has been created to protect the integrity of professional duties. Staff at the Foundation and in Network institutions is to excel for their dedication and professionalism, in both procedures and in customer management.

The Code therefore offers both customers of microfinance institutions and the remaining agents of the Network and of the Foundation a clear snapshot of the commitments and ethical values that guide all institutions in which they have placed their trust.
