Regarding institutions
- The importance of regulated and supervised financial institutions will continue to grow in the intermediation with this segment. This increase will follow the trend recorded up until now.
- The transnationalisation of institutions may continue, although it may not have the strength seen in other regions, such as Asia, given that the successful institutions here do not have the size to embark upon such a process.
- Regarding cooperative institutions, they are expected to continue with the processes of inclusion within a regulated and supervised sphere as corresponds to their business of financial intermediation and attraction of savings from the public.
- NGOs, as a form of legal arrangement, will continue losing the weight they had in the region, especially in those areas in which the market is more mature, with the successful ones proceeding with the process of upgrading into a regulated and supervised financial institution. They will remain in those countries in which the industry has yet to develop, such as Argentina, or in those areas that have not reached a sufficient level of supply in financial services, such as rural areas in the majority of the countries in the region.
- First-tier public banks will continue to maintain their minority presence, with the possibility that in certain countries, depending on the profile of their governments, they will operate as executors of their policies, which will affect the development of a sustainable offer.
- Technology-based and government-backed distribution will uphold its progressive trend, which will change the general scenario for banking penetration amongst the population.
