INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY

The BBVA Microfinance Foundation expects to create a global Network of Microfinance Institutions that will help to strengthen the microfinance sector. As part of this strengthening procedure, the Foundation works to create a common culture and a uniform operating framework among the members of the Network, without detriment to each institution’s own identity. Sharing similar ethical values geared towards management, with special concern for Social Responsibility and transparency is yet another pillar consolidating the Network as a framework for shared operations and growth.

To achieve this, the BBVA Microfinance Foundation has created a Code of Corporate Governance for members of the Network and also encourages the use of a common Code of Conduct.

The Network.s Code of Corporate Governance includes a series of good practices, rules and principles that the Foundation, in accordance with generally accepted standards and practices at international level, believes are desirable for the good governance of the Network and of each member institution.

Elsewhere, the Code of Conduct is a tool that is shared between the BBVA Foundation for Microfinances and members of the Network of Microfinance Enterprises. The Code of Conduct is a source of creating value for all the enterprises and entails an explicit commitment to integrity and professional ethics by these enterprises. As a tool that the Foundation offers to the Network members, it represents a reference framework targeted at promoting and ensuring conduct that the entire financial institution requires to preserve the most upright and honest professional performance.
